OVER 3000 MEN EMPLOYED Nearly a third of the men engaged mi public works arc employed on hydroelectric deve'epment. according to the latest issue of the Abstract of Statistics. The increased importance attached to developing power resources is also shown in tlie increase in the number of inn employed on this work from 1148 in 1938 to 324!) in 19-16. In the same period the number of men employed on public work and h.ydro-elccrlc undertakings generally decreased from 22,1,62 to 10,97(1. and those on roads from 12.812 to 3380. on railways from 2757 to 30(1. and on boldines from 1634 to 724.
