OLD FOLKS MEET

CONCERT AND DANCE GISBORNE ASSOCIATION An anniversary concert and dance was conducted in the clubrooms on Saturday by the Gisborne Old Folks’ Association and during the early part of the evening many memories of early Gisborne were recalled. Addresses were short and for the most part the incidents related to happenings known to the audience. The president of the association, Mr. J. Pirie, was chairman. Community singing opened the programme. Songs were contributed by Mrs Wallen, Misses Griffith and Fischbacli. Messrs. B. Sherriff. J. A. Grant and Butler. Mesdames Riley and T. H. Berry played the accompaniments. Mr. C. E. Grey told a number of anecdotes, a recitation was given by Mr. W. Peryer and humorous items by Messrs. David Lee Mulligan and Chilcott. An apology for absence was read from a vice-president of the association. Mr. ,T. Moss, who was unable to attend because of health reasons. At the close of the concert space was cleared for old-time dancing. The evening was declared a great success.
