OAK GARDEN CIRCLE

At the monthly meeting of the Oak Gardening Circle, held in Le Grande Cafe last week, Mrs. E. R. Perry presided, her talk being on how to prune flowering shrubs. She also dealt with work in the garden during the present month. The sales table was well laden with choice cuttings and produce, and Mrs. Olding was in charge. Afternoon tea was dispensed by Mesdames Dempsey and Elliott. Mrs. Perry judged the cut flowers, which were particularly beautiful, especially the chrysanthemums. Results were:—Mixed flowers: Mrs. Olding. 1: Mrs. Sellman, 2; Mrs. Carr, 3. One variety: Mrs. Carr and Miss M. Lennane, equal, 1; Mrs. Sellman, 3; Mrs. Steele, 4. Single bloom: Mesdames Robertson and Choveaux, equal, 1; Mesdames Steele, Sellman and Lennane, equal, 3; Mrs. Carr, 6. Chrysanthemums: Mrs. Choveaux, 1; Mrs. Lennane, 2; Mrs. Robertson, 3.
