AIRBORNE VISITOR

Doubtless one of the most interesting women who have visited New Zealand is Mrs. Summers, wife of Wing Commander M. Summers, who will be in Gisborne on Thursday aboard the Viking aircraft which is making a goodwill tour of the Empire in order to display British post-war air-liners. Mrs. Summers, a licensed piloL herself, is accompanying Wing Commander Summers on the whole of the tour. In the last year she has crossed the Atlantic by air no less than five times, and has completed a 20.000-mile tour of South Africa by air. Early in 1940 she had an aerial tour on Pan-American Airlines which covered most of South and Central America. She has flown on most of the world airlines and in the world transport aircraft, so her comments on the Viking's passenger appeal are looked forward to with interest, although she has no official duties in connection with this tour, apart from being a stewardess when necessary.
