DOMINIONS’ FORCES GREATEST OF ANY MONTGOMERY’S TRIBUTE (11 a.m.) LONDON, April 25. “We could not have won the Battle of Alamein without the aid of the Ninth Australian Division and the New Zealanders. Judged in relation to their populations, the Australians and New Zealand contribution .in the Second World War was greater than any other, country taking part in that war, whether Allied or enemy.” The Chief of the Imperial Generali Staff, Field Marshal Lord Montgomery,] said this in broadcasting an Anzac DayJ message over the 8.8.C.’s Pacific Ser-: vice. He said that the comradeship and’ close association between the Common-, wealth’s fighting men during the war/ should continue to develop in peace. He was looking forward to his visit to Australia and New Zealand in July with intense eagerness. One of the great pleasures of his visit would be to meet the men who had fought with him in Africa and Europe. “Until then, goodbye and good luck,” he said.
