N.S.W. PREMIER PRAISED
“TRUE LABOUR POLICY” LANG ASSAILS MINISTRY SYDNEY, April 23. Delivering the Lang Labour Party’s policy speech, Mr J. T. Lang praised the Premier, Mr J. McGirr for want* ing to carry out ‘‘the true Labour policy,” but condemned the Ministry and the party, “ steeped so long in McKellism.” Mr McGirr received his first Cabinet position from Mr Lar.g in 1931 and was the last of the Ministers to desert him. Mr Lang contended that the policy of Mr. McKell and Mr. Chifiey and the Labour policy were miles apart and that Mr McGirr could not carry out his policy with the McKell Ministry. He advocated the release of building material, the provision of more hos' pital facilities for deserving cases and the recoverv of taxation powers by the States. In contrast with the Liberal tactics, two Federal Ministers haw already entered the field for Labour •in New South Wales. They are the Minister of Transport, Mr E. J. Ward and the Minister of Immigration, Mr A. A. Calwell.
