H.B. AND E.C. TOURNEY GISBORNE INVITATION Despite the inclement weather, there was a good attendance of members at rhe ann.ua! meeting of tire Gisborne j Cress Club on Monday. In his report, the out going prcsi- i dent, Mr E. R. Broom, said tiiat, though the membership was not as large as | might be expected, there had been an j increase during the year. Many en .lovable games had been played in pleasant surroundings. The club championship had been keenly contested, j Mr Brown winning only by a narrow margin from Mr J. H. Walker. Mr Walker was also winner of the monthly kardicap tourney most times during the season, thereby taking the Meredith Cup. Messrs Walker. LI. Meredith and Broom represented the club at the Hawke's Bay and East Coast championship tourney held in Hastings, continued the report. In the championship event Mr Broom lied for fourth place, and in the premier reserves Mr Walker took second place and Mr Meredith tied for third. The knock- ' out lightning tourney at the final ses- j sion. open to all competitors, was won ' by Mr Meredith.
