Parry, said in an interview that the Government did not consider the time opportune to stage games in the Dominion and was not prepared to make any financial grant should tlie I first post-war games be allocated to New Zealand. Mr Parry said the Dominion was up against the problem of grounds and accommodation and if it were decided to hold the games in this country considerable developmental work would be entailed to provide facilities for overseas athletes and visitors. “We have not tlie labour nor the mate-inl for these projects."
