SCENIC HIGHWAY CLOSED OTHER ROUTES STILL OPEN The vain over the past few days has started to have its effect on some roads in the district, and the following report on conditions has been made available by tire resident A.A. patrol, Mr. E. W. Cook:— Gisborne-Napier, via Tiniroto. —Open. Gisborne-Napier, via Morere. —Open; one or two small slips on Wharernta Hill.

Gisborne-Opotiki, via Waioeka. Open. Tra(lord’s Hill is reported to be in a bad state, but traffic is getting through. Gisborne-Opotiki, via East Cape.---Closed for three davs at least. Ru’d closed by slip at Oruatiti Bluff, a miles on the Te Araroa side of Waihau Bay.
