CONTROL OF RABBITS
HAWKE’S BAY INTEREST
Landowners in the Hawke’s Bay Rabbit Board district have been becoming rabbit conscious and apparently have realised the damaging effect to property that would occur should the pests become uncontrollable, according to reports received at a recent meeting of the board.
It was explained that extensive poisoning had been carried out and was still being attended to, and it couid be stated that the area was showing an improvement. There were still some bad patches, but these were be nig worked and by the end of April tney should show a marked improvement. Farmers were working in groups and this should show good results. The board had been able to get a supply of ammunition and pollard, and farmers were using these to good advantage. Good kills were still being obtained with phosphorised pollard, but a large amount of strychnine was also being used.
