NEW COBB SCHEME
IMMEDIATE START TO COST £2,000,000 NELSON—MARLBOROUGH (P.A.) NELSON, March 15. A hydro-elcctric development scheme for the Nelson and Marlborough districts. etsimated to cost about £2,000,000, has been approved by Cabinet. The construction of a dam at the Cobb hydro-electric station is to be commenced immediately and proposals are also understood to include the provision of further generating plant at the Cobb station, the duplication of the main transmission line, and the connection of the area with the main South Island system. It is believed that the estimates also provide for linking Westport with the South Island system.
