GISBORNE MARKET Tomatoes and cucumbers came forward in increasing quantities in excess of tiie demand during the past week, according to a report from Gisborne Markets, Limited. Stone fruits were in very short supply and there was a keen demand.
Grapes were more abundant and ra'es eased. There were more melons on the market, with a consequent fall in values Increasing supplies of beans and peas resulted in an easing tendency, though the first cauliflowers met a ready demand. Kumeras have been in steady demand at ceiling prices, and small fruits have been steady. Prices: Peaches and plums, ceiling; tomatoes, 2d to 4d per lb; cucumbers, green. Is per case: apples. Is per dozen; grapes, Is 3d to 2s 3d per lb; quinces. 10s to !5s per case; passion-fruit. Is to 2s per dozen; citrus, ceiling, beetroot. 9d to Is per dozen; beans, 4d ..to Od per lb; cabbage, 3s to 8s per sack; carrots, 10s to 14s per cwl.: cauliflowers, 25s per sack; celery, 14s to 18s per case; peas, 3d to 6d per lb; sweet corn, 3d to 6d per dozen; kumeras, 26s -M per cwt., ceiling; marrows, Is to 2s per dozen; rhubarb, Is to 2s per dozen; pumpkins 6s to 14s per sack; parsnips. 16s to 19s per cwt.; lettuce, 4s to 10s per case; onions, ceiling.
