TOLAGA HOLDS TROPHY Home and home. matches between the respective bowling clubs of Tolaga Bay and Tokomaru Bay for the Carver Cup provided an interesting series of games in which Tolaga Bay retained the trophy for 1947, Details of play on the respective greens follow, Tokomaru Bay rinks being mentioned first in each instance. CHAMPIONS HONOURED At the conclusion of the series of games in the Carver Cup contest at Tokomaru Bay during the last weekend, members of the Tolaga Bay Bowling Club’s rink who won the Dominion title were entertained, together with their club mates, in the pavilion, by the members of the Tokomaru BayBowling Club. Mr. joe Oates, the president, in extending congratulations to the winners, expressed the pleasure that their victory had given to bowlers of the East Coast dubs, and stated that their achievement not only put Tolaga Bay “on the map" but also brought distinction to the East Coast Centre which was very proud of the Tolaga rink. Mr. F. Thompson, vice-president, made special reference to the bowling career of Mr. E. Crowley, sen., culminating in participation as a member of the Dominion’s champion four for 1947. 50 years after winning his first tournament in Wellington. ‘ Messrs. V. F. Huristone and GcotT.
