LADY LED PROCESSION THE MAYOR OF LAHORE POLICE SENIOR INJURED LONDON, Jan. 28. The police arrested Lady Elizabeth Victoria Noon, the 30-year-old English wife of Sir Firozkhan Noon, while she was leading a procession of veiled, Moslem women in defiance of the Punjab Government’s ban on public assemblies, reports Reuter’s Lahore correspondent. With other Moslem League members, including the * Mayor of Lahore, she was later released. Shortly before the announcement of arrests, the Punjab Premier, Sir Khizar Hayatkhan, said the Government would immediately withdraw the ban on the Moslem national guards which was imposed on Friday. A message from Amritsar says that a senior British police officer, Superintendent S. E. Robinson, was seriously injured when a demonstrator in a Moslem League procession hit him on the head with a flagpole. British troops have been ordered to stand by. A later message says that the Lahore police again arrested a number of prominent Punjab Moslem League leaders shortly after midnight, including the Khan of Namdot, president of the Punjab Moslem League; Sir Firoz Khan Noon, the former High Commissioner In London; and Mian Aoiruddin, the Mayor of Lahore, says Reuter’s correspondent.
