Gisborne Aerodrome in Use

For the first time since the war years the Gisborne aerodrome, Darton Field, was used for “circuits and bumps” by an aircraft on Sunday. It was necessary for a second pilot on the National Airways’ Electra machine which stopped at Gisborne over the week-end to do a number of landings and take-offs to keep up his monthly (lying quota. Instead of using Palmerston North airfield, the opportunity was taken to do the flying from Darton Eield. After completing the requisite number of landings, tire aircraft proceeded up the East Coast for a short distance, later returning to Gisborne to be made ready to resume the scheduled run to the north this morning.
