SUCCESS IN LONDON

NEW ZEALAND PIANIST (9 a.m.) LONDON. Jan. 27. Now universally recognised as a pianist of distinction. Colin Horsley, formerly of Wanganui, appeared as a soloist with the London Symphony Orchestra in the Royal Albert Hall on Friday in the first public performance of a new piano concerto by Humphrey Searle. The work was composed during the war on an Army mess piano.

Horsley received a great ovation for his brilliant interpretation of this difficult concerto, but the audience was not particularly enthusiastic over the musical merits of the piece.
