FLYING-BOAT BASE
N. PLYMOUTH UNSUITABLE LANDINGS IN OPEN SEA (P.A.) WELLINGTON Dec. 20. New Plymouth would not be good as an alternative base for flying-boats owing to the open sea in which they would have to land before taxiing behind the breakwater where there is a good protected harbour, said Mr. G. Puddicombe. representative of the Short Flying-boat Company, when he returned to Wellington after an aerial inspection of New Plymouth for this purpose. ,
Mr. Puddicombe said New Plymouth could be made ideal when aircraft became larger, as they would do in the next few vears.
