OAK GARDENING CIRCLE

The monthly meeting of the Oan Gardening Circle was held recently in Le Grand Cafe. In the absence of the president, Mrs. E R Perry, Mrs. Dempsey took the chair. Owing to illness, the secretary was unable to be present, Mrs. A. G. Falconer acting in her stead. New members enrolled were Mesdames McGuthie, E. Phillips, and Lenane, and Miss Lenane. With members standing, a vote of condolence was passed with the relatives of a former member, the late Mrs. Fletcher.

“Here and there, in and around Hie garden” was the interesting subject chosen by the acting president, who, at the conclusion of her talk wished members the traditional greetings,

Competition results were:—Mixed variety: Mrs. Olding, 1; Mrs. Sellman, 2; Mesdames Richard and Carr, equal, 3. Mixed carnations: Mrs. Richards. 1; Mrs. Howie, 2. One variety: Mrs. Choveaux, 1; Mrs. Wilson, 2; Mrs. Robertson. 3, with points to Mesdames Sellman and Morrow. Single bloom: points were given to Mesdames Carr. Wilson, Sellman. Richards, Olding and Robertson.
