PATUTAHI BREEDER
FAT LAMB SUCCESSES The success achieved by Mr J. Atkins, Patutahi, at yesterday’s export meat competition sponsored by the New Zealand Meat Producers’ Board and organised by the Poverty Bay A, and P. Association at the Kaiti works of the Gisborne Refrigerating Company, Limited, was not an isolated one. For four years in succession Mr. Atkins has shown the champion at the Gisborne Show. At the last Show he won the competition For the lamb on hoof suitable for the English market and the champion and reserve champion on the hoof. Yesterday he won the competition on the hooks and from his winning pen came the champion and reserve champion on the hooks, an achievement probably never before equalled in the history of the competition. The judge, Mr. J. Barr, Hastings, paid a compliment to the breeder of the rams being used by Mr. Atkins to achieve his remarkable results.
