MR. ALLAN O. ROCHE
PLUMBER'S SUDDEN DEATH The sudden death of Mr. Allan Roche at the age of 38 years at the Cook Hospital last evening will come as a shock to his many friends as up to a late hour yesterday afternoon he was going about his normal work, Mr. Roche had lived in Gisborne all his life, being the youngest of the family of Mr. and Mrs. F. Roche. On leaving school he was apprenticed to the plumbing trade and for many years had been employed by J. S. Allan and Son. He was always a popular member of the building and plumbing trade and his happy_ disposition earned him many friends. Amongst other activities, Mi\ Roche was keenly interested in rowing and was formerly an active and successful oarsman of the Poverty Bay Rowing Club. Mr. Roche was married in Gisborne to Irene Doris Watkins and leaves bis wife and one son, Raymond. There are also nine sisters and two brothers — Mrs. C. Brooks, Palmerston North Mesdnmes R. E. Pearson, R. Humphreys. V. Lowe, A. Adcroft, E. Goodwin. H. Hudson, J. Vagg, Gisborne, and Mrs. R. Callaghan, Wellington. Mr. J. Roche, Ashburton, and Mr. F. Roche. Hastings. A service will be held in Cochrane’s chapel. William street, at 1.45 p.m. tomorrow, after which the funeral will leave for the Taruheru cemetery.
Formal identification of Allan Owen Roche. a piumoer, who died in the Cook Hospital last evening, was given in the Coroner's Court this morning by his brother-in-law. Edwin Goodwin, before Mr. E. L. Walton. S.M. The witness stated that the deceased had resided with him for some time and last Wednesday had returned home complaining of a cut in his littl p finger. Inflammation around the cut had become worse and yesterday afternoon he had been ordered to hospital, this being the last time the witness had seen him alive. The coroner adjourned the inquest sine die.
