N.S. WALES MEMBERS

PENSIONS BILL PASSED

(9 a.m.) SYDNEY, April 15. The Legislative Assembly passed the Members’ Pensions Bill, which provides for pensions of £6 a week for exmembers of Parliament after 15 years in the public service or £5 a week after membership of three Parliaments. The members’ contributions will be 30/- a week.

The Leader of the Country Party. Mr. Bruxner, in opposing the bill, said: “I don’t think the taxpayers should be asked to support a pension fund for defeated members of Parliament. Servicemen who have lost legs, arms or eyes get less.”
