STILL “VERY STICKY”

BRITISH COAL SUPPLY ABSENTEE MINERS WARNED (10 a,m.) LONDON, April 14. British industry consumed more coal last month than it did in March 1945. when munition production was in full swing, said the Minister of Fuel, Mr. E. Shinwell, in a speech at a Durham colliery. The coal situation was still "very sticky,” and the Minister issued a warning that if absenteeism, due to mid-week sporting fixtures continued, the Government would have to tackle the problem.
