CHANCES OF REVIVAL

BRITISH CONSERVATIVES Mr. Robert Boothby, M.P., speaking at Brighton, said there would be no revival of the Conservative Party in Britain if they were content merely to wait for the Labour Government to make mistakes, in the hope of cashing in on them, states the Times of London. They must offer a constructive alternative policy, based upon principles tenaciously held, to an electorate which was becoming increasingly alert. Three fundamental principles, which should govern all their thought and action, were the need to strengthen, consolidate and develop the British Commonwealth and Empire in a world still rocked by the aftermath of war; the importance of a prosperous agriculture to Britain’s national life; and the paramount value of individual liberty.
