£3O FINE IMPOSED
UNRULY QUEENSLAND M.P. “BUNDERBERG BOMBSHELL” (10 a.m.) BRISBANE, March 26. The “Bundcrberg Bombshell,” Mr. Frank Barnes, has been fined £3O by the State Parliament after it had adjudged him guilty of contempt. When he entered the Chamber the Speaker called on him to apologise to the House for having on March 13 called the Speaker, Mr. S. Brassington, the present Premier, Mr. E. M. Hanlon, and the Chairman of Committees, Mr. John Mann, “three of the biggest crooks in the State.” . , , Jumping up, Mr. Barnes said: “I have no intention of apologising. I would sooner break stones on the roads than apologise to crooks. Take my pay from me. I have got it on you now.” After the contempt motion was carried he walked out shouting. Later, when he refused to attend the bar of the House, he was fined.
