AWESOME ERUPTION
JAPANESE VOLCANO DESTRUCTION OF LAND (in a.m.) TOKYO. March 25. Americans who flew over Minami Dake mountain reported that they saw the erupting volcano hurl a boulder the size of a house more than 1000 ft into the air. The rumblings could be heard 20 miles away. , , . „ The mountain is at present belching a 3000 ft. column of smoke and ashes which, fanners say, have damaged land for 20 miles from the volcano. _ The entire peninsula on which the volcano stands has been evacuated, with residents sheltering across the bay ot Kagoshima. Three streams of lava arc at present creeping down the mountain sides. One has reached the sea two miles away.
