ROUSING WELCOME

PRINCESS IN N. IRELAND INVITATIONS TO RETURN LONDON, March 21. Princess Elizabeth was given a terrific send-off when she left Belfast to-day at the conclusion of her threeday visit to Northern Ireland. Thousands of people lined the quayside, and as the cruiser Superb swung away from its berth, sang: “Will Ye No Come Back Again” and “Auld Lang Syne.” The Princess, who was standing on a gun platform below the bridge, smilingly waved acknowledgment. She was seen off by the Governor of Northern Ireland, Earl Granville, and her aunt, Countess Granville, the Prime Minister and other members of the Cabinet. The destroyers Fame and Hotspur are escorting the Superb to Greenock. “Princess Elizabeth charmed us all,” said the Governor of Northern Ireland in a message to King George. “Everywhere she went she was asked to visit us again.” . . His Majesty, in replying, expressed pleasure that the visit “went off so well.” King George added: “I know my daughter was touched and delighted at the kindness accorded her.” Princess Elizabeth has agreed to be present at the Empire Day festival at the Albert Hall on May 24. The Princess will give a message to the Empire’s youth.
