INQUIRIES URGED
FOREIGN LEGATIONS POSITION IN AUSTRALIA CANBERRA, March 22. Replying to a question by Mr. Anthony (Country Party), Dr. H. V. Evatt, Minister of External Affairs, said in the House of Representatives that there had been no suggestion to the Government about any improper activities by foreign legations in Australia. Mr. Anthony’s question concerned Mr. W. L. Mackenzie _ King’s report about subversive activities by Russian agents in Canada. Dr. Evatt said he had not seen a statement or made inquiries as to .the activities of legations accredited to Aus tr 31 i 3-• Mr. Anthony: It is time you did. Dr. Evatt: Nor has any person, responsible or otherwise, suggested any improper activities by the legations in Mr. Anthony: It was not suggested in Canada until one of the agents voluntarily confessed.
