TROOPS FIT

J. FORCE DISEMBARKS MORALE EXCELLENT (P.A.) WELLINGTON, March 23. “The health of the troops is now better than it was on embarkation at Naples,” states Brigadier K. L. Stewart, officer commanding the New Zealand force for the occupation of Japan, in a message referring to the arrival of the main body of the force received by the Minister of Defence, Mr. F. Jones. Brigadier Stewart stated that the measles epidemic had passed and that no out-patients Were put ashore at Hong Kong. “The conditions and amenities on the ship were excellent,” he added. “Though they had no shore leave during the voyage, the morale of the troops was good.” The troops, he said, were now disembarking and moving to allotted areas. Nursing sisters and W.A.A.C.s were quartered in hospitals in very satisfactory accommodation.
