THE CASE FOR FRANCE

DEMENTHON RELIEVED

NUREMBURG, Jan. 18.

M. Dementhon who yesterday opened France's case against the 21 Nazi leaders at the war crimes trial, has been relieved as chief prosecutor at his own request.

M. Dementhon. who is returning to Paris for duty connected with the Consultative Assembly, is succeeded by M. Augustin Deribes.

The Germans sent M. Deribes to a concentration camp after the fall oi France. He escaped on June 8, 1944 and lived with the Maquis until the liberation. He is a former Cabinet Minister and was once under-secretary of the French Foreign Office.
