HOTEL SHELLED
INDONESIAN H.Q. OCCUPANTS DRIVEN OUT ISOLATED SKIRMISHES (11 a.m.) BATAVIA, Jan. 16. British artillery shelled the Isola Hotel headquarters of the Indonesian extremists at Bandoeng. Machineguns were silenced and the Indonesians were driven out of the building. Other skirmishes were reported at Bandoeng and Sourabaya. British troops and Dutch police, in a surprise raid at Padang, arrested 10 Indonesians alleged to be involved in the murder of five Dutch Eurasians and the kidnapping of 20 others last November. Three graves have been discovered. The missing persons are mainly women and children.
