APPEAL BY ITALY

PLACE AMONG NATIONS WORLD RECONSTRUCTION (9 a.m.) LONDON, Jan. 16. When the General Committee of the United Nations met last evening after the General Assembly session, a tele'gram was read from the Italian Premier. Signor de Gasperi, appealing that Italy might soon be allowed to take her place in the international community so that she might play her part in the common effort to secure a peaceful and iust reconstruction of the world and ■friendly relations between the nations. M. Gromyko (Russia) expressed sympathy with the Italian appeal, but said the most the committee could do for the moment was to publish it in tho Assembly journal. The committee agreed to take this course.
