Otaki Railway, each had his first reverse in the fours championship at the New Zealand bowling tournament yesterday. Giles lost to J. Veileh, Dunedin, who has failed to qualify for post-sectional play, 20—22. iu the fifth round. After a keenly-contested game in the sixth round, Fleming was beaten by Giles, the score being 21—20. Giles has a hard game to-day when he meets R. Haworth's Wanganui East rink, and in the eighth round he meets R. B. Hart. Timaru. Fleming has two easier games, however, having to meet W. Sprosen. Linwood. and C. Mills, Nightcaps, and should have no difficulty in qualifying. P. Munn, Canterbury, won both his games yesterday by comfortable margins, but cannot afford to lose to-day if he is to qualify. He meets J. .T. Davis, Kaituna, and J. B. Gauntlott, Lynll Bay. to-day. G. A. Dcare, Mt. Eden, who lost a game on Tuesday, went down yesterday to J. R. Smith, ICelburn, and must now win each of his games to-day to qualify. V. C. Potter, Tauranga, who has a life left in the singles, has won his six games to date and has qualified for post-sectional play. His rink will be followed with much interest in the later games. J. A. Tyrrell skipped the winning pair in 193 S and Sneddon was a member of H. Wilson’s winning four in 1938. A strong Canterbury rink sekipped by J.
