Beach Band Programme

Another of the delightful band programmes presented by the Gisborne Home Guard Band will be conducted at the Waikanae Beach this evening. The programme, which will feature concert selections, will be under the baton of Mr. George Douglas and will commence at 7.45 p.m.

Christmas Greetings “This is the first time for a number of years that we will be able to celebrate Christmas in the proper spirit without war,” declared the chairman of the Cook Hospital Board. Mr M. T. Trafford, when greetings were being expressed for the festive season at the conclusion of the meeting yesterday. “We all fee 1 much better now that it is all over and we know that our boys are no longer in danger, and I take this opportunity oi wishing the board, staff and officers the compliments of the season,” added Mr Trafford. Mr. J. H, Hall said that he was sure the other board members would join with him in reciprocating these wishes. The medical superintendent Dr. R. J. B. Hall, expressed a similar view on behalf of the hospital staff. The chairman also read good wishes from several other boards and also the nursing staff, which had made and donated a Christmas cake to the board members.
