Reports from Wales, the scene of many friendly battles with the New Zealanders on the Rugby field, . state that great interest is being .taken in .the opening game of the New Zealand Army Rugby touring team against Swansea on Saturday. Swansea, which has not been defeated this year has selected a strong .team. It includes the internationals, Hayden Tanner and Harry Payne, both of whom played against the 1935 All 61cicl\S J. Fir.lay will captain the New Zealanders and lead the haka. C. K. Saxton is still tending minor injuries. The team is as follows: — Fullback: R. W. H. Scott. Threequarters: E. J. Boggs, J. B. Smith, J. R. Sherratt. Fivc-eigh.ths: I. Proctor, F. R. Allan. Half-back: W. S. Edwards. Back row: J. Finlay. Middle row: S. L. Young, J. Maclean, S. W .Woolley, K. D. Arnold. . Front row: N. J. McPhail, F. M Haigh, P. K. Rhind. _ „ , Emergencies: J. G. Bond, G. B. Nelson, J. C. Kearney, W. A. Meates. New Zealand Expeditionary Force personnel who hoped to reach Englano irorn Italy in time to see the niatcn were delayed on the continent as a result of the severe gales which arc sweeping southern England and whipping up mountainous seas, preventing Charnel crossings. Leave parties arc held up in Calais. Soison and Dijon, and are awaiting air improvement in the weather. Saxton has a sore shoulder, otherwise the team- is believed to be the strongest possible. Major M. P. Donnelly, the New Zealand test cricketer, will play centre threequarter for Oxford University XV on October 27. , . , Haydn Tanner, tire Welsh lmernatisr.al scrum-half, will captain the Swansea fifteen. Tanner is known to pre-war All Blacks and is expected to captain Welsh sides in the big matches later.
