OIL FUEL PIPELINE

MARSEILLES TO SAAR SALE TO FRANCE PLANNED LONDON, Sept. 2. The pipeline laid down by the United States troops from Marseilles to the Saar will be French property if the negotiations which are at present proceeding between the French and Americans are successfully concluded, says Reuter’s correspondent in Paris. The pipeline was begun in August, 1944 after the Allied landing in southern France. At one time it was supplying 18.000 barrels of motor fuel daily "to Allied armour and transport vehicles.

The United States Army and Navy Liquidation Commission declared that the pipeline is surplus equipment. It actually extends 120 miles further into Germany but this section will be taken up because the commission has not included it in the surplus declaration.
