WOKE UP AT SEA
SOLDIER WENT TO PARTY (P.A.) WELLINGTON, Sept. 4. A soldier on whose behalf it was said that he went to a party and woke up at sea aboard the Mauretania, which recently brought prisoners of war back to New Zealand, was found guilty by a district court-martial at Trentham of absence without leave.
He was Private Ronald Leslie Collins. It was said for him that he had only a hazy recollection of the events after entering the wharf gates following a party. At Sydney he reported to the naval lieutenant aboard and was placed under arrest.
He was sentenced to 14 days’ detention.
