UNFETTERED IN SPAIN

GERMAN INDUSTRIES CLOAK OF OWNERSHIP LONDON, Sept. 2. Numerous German industries, including the i G. Farben Industries, continue to operate almost unhampered in Spain under the cloak of Spanish ownership and protected by Spanish law, say.- Reuter’s correspondent in Barcelona.

The Allied authorities are studying the situation to ascertain whether it is possible to stamp out Spain’s “Little Germany.” These German subsidiaries at present cannot be touched. All are technically Spanish concerns, owned and controlled, in name at least, by Spaniards. All the Allies have been able to do so far is to blacklist and refuse to supply them with raw materials. Britain has blacklisted more than 800 firms and individuals in Spain for trading with Germany or being German controlled. German assets in Spain are estimated at about £60.000 000.
