Mrs Sarah Cooke retrieved the national singles lawn tennis title from Pauline-Betz, who held it for the past three years while Mrs. Cooke was out of the competition. Talbert reached the men’s singles final for the second successive year by defeating Segura 7—5, (I—3, G—4. Talbert was a little uncertain nt the start hut settled ciov.-u to his usual smooth stylish game, pounding Segura s backhand and then successfully rushing the net. In the women’s doubles semi-finals, Pauline p. tz and Hart defeated Mary Arnold and Shirley Fry 7—5, C—3. Louise Brough and Margaret Osborne defeated Mrs. Cooke and Dorothy Bundy, G —2, G—3. ,
