A BOXER OF CLASS

BOS MURPHY WINS AGAIN SOUTHEE SOON BEATEN (P . A .) WELLINGTON, Sept. 4. Following his summary disposal of Tommy Dunn and Jack Duncan earlier this season. Bos Murphy, 10.7, last night stopped Fred Sou thee, 11.4. half-way through the second round of a professional boxing contest scheduled for 10 rounds. Southeo barely survived the first round, the referee stopping the contest in the second. Murphy’s win stamps him as a boxer of class who need not be afraid to meet any importation from overseas. Tie has all the essentials of a champion boxer—height, reach, speed and punching power. He was given an ovation by a crowded house as he left the ring. BOLGER BEATS DUNCAN (p.,\.) DUNEDIN, Sept. 4. After a display marred by much clinching and indecisive hitting, Laurie Bolster, Mataurn, 10.7:1, boat Jack Duncan, Nguruawahia, 10.6ij, in a professional welterweight boxing contest over 12 three-minute rounds nt the Town Hall last night. The attendance was over 8000. A somewhat colourless bout livened up from the eighth icuud onwards and Duncan stood up to fairly heavy punishment in the eleventh round, but came back strongly in the twelfth. Bolster's strong finishing effort, however, assured him of the decision.
