50 MEN ARRESTED
RAIDS IN AUCKLAND (P.A.) AUCKLAND, July 28. Fifty men were arrested when police parties simultaneously raided eight premises in the city which were being used for the sale and marking of pnkapoo tickets shortly, before 2 o’clock yesterday afternoon, Eight Chinese occupiers of the premises were later charged before Mr. S. I, Goodall. SIM., with using them as common gaming houses. The other 42 men arrested, two of whom were Chinese, were charged with being found on the premises. A fine of £2O was imposed on each of the eight occupiers, the other 42 accused, who were convicted, being fined £2 each.
