BYRNES LIKELY CHOICE OTHER OFFICIALS RESIGN (10 a.m.) NEW YORK, June 29. The Herald-Tribune’s correspondent in Washington says the capital’s conviction that Mr. James Byrnes is the man President Truman has selected as the new Secretary of State increased to-day when it was learned that President Truman had also received the resignations of the Undersecretary, Mr. Joseph Grew, and six assistant . secretaries. Mr. Byrnes md President Truman, it is expected, will announce substitutes for this team which was picked by Mr. E. Stettinius and President Roosevelt as soon as Mr. Byrnes has had an opportunity to size up the situation. The assistant secretaries, Mr. Nelson Rockefeller, Mr. James Dunn and Mi-. Archibald MacLeish have been mentioned as among those who are likely to be replaced.
