PRODUCTION RESUMED

TARAKAN OILFIELDS

(P.A.) WELLINGTON. June 30. Tarakan oilfields, Borneo, resumed production on Thursday, when the commander of the Australian forces on Tarakan officially opened a pumping station at the request of a dutch officer of the Netherlands East Indies oil rehabilitation service, states a report issued by the Australian High Commissioner. Mr. T. G. de L. D’Alton. The wells, the pre-war production of which was about 6,000.000 barrels a year, had been idle since their destruction by the Japanese a few days before the Australians landing on May 1.

Present at the simple openingceremony were Australian and 1 Dutch army and navy officers and Netherlands officials. The natives held a religious service to bless the undertaking and pray for its success.
