Regent.—Spencer Tracy, who headed the 1944 popularity poll, returns in the. type of role which first made him famous in “A Guy Named Joe,” Metro-Goldw.vn-Mayer’s romantic story of the fighter pilots at present showing at the Regent. Lovely Irene Dunne is co-starred with Tracy and other notable players in the sterling cast include Van Johnson and Lionel Barrymore.
Majestic.—To-morrow at 7.45 will see the final presentation of George Formby’s latest bit of fun, ‘Gunner George.” This up-to-date comedy of the blackout, espionage and U-boats gives plenty of scope to George Formby, who is well supported by a good allround cast. The presentation is good and the film makes exhilarating entertainment. The associate feature is “The Singing Hill,” starring Gene Autry and Mary Leo. . King’s.—A story of the gay life at the end of the last century is screened in the Teehnicolnur film, “Heaven Can Wait,” which ends tq-night at the King’s Theatre. Gone Tierney and Don Ameche are in the principal roles, and they are supported by a big cast of wellknown artists, including Charles Coburn. Marjorie Main, and Laird Cregar. Playing the role of an heiress who is having her first taste of the brighter side of New York life Gene Tierney accepts the love of the irresponsible .son of a rich New York family.
