EGG SUPPLIES CUT
AUSTRALIAN MARKET RATIONING TO COME (9 a.m.) SYDNEY, Jan. 9. Egg supplies to retailers throughout the Commonwealth were cut by 50 p er cent to-day and ii is announced officially that plans are being prepared to introduce egg rationing. Priority for supply will be given to •'vulnerable groups” such as nursing mothers and infants. A poultry expert said that lor ordinary civilians less than one egg a week might be available in three months’ time. The seasonal fall in production was being accelerated by the drought conditions. The establishment ol a black market in eggs was also feared.
