In a hard-fought, finish, Victory Lad, whose only other will was in the 1943 Breeders’ Plate, defeated the four-yeav-ota mare Felbeam in the Carrington Stakes at the A.J.C. meeting at Randwick on Saturday. The strong favourite. Hall Stand, could finish only fourth. Results: — Carrington Stakes; 6 furlongs.—Victory Lad, 7.8 (Doon), 1 : Felbeam, 7.7 (Thompson). 2; Trimmer, 9.3 (Munro), 3. Ten started. A head; a neck. Time. 1.13. The Tattersall’s Club Cup; 11 miles.— Craigie. 7.12 (Duncan), 1; Ivuiree, 8.13 (Bartie), 2; Easter Time, 7.6 (Doon), 3. Seven started.
