GOVERNOR-DESIGNATE (9 a.m.l SUVA, Jan. 2. Mr. Alexander William George Herder Grantham and Mr-. Grnnt- [ ham arrived on Sunday. Mr. Grantham will, be sworn in on Monday as Governor of Fiji and High Commis- ; siotier for the Western Pacific. ■ The Governor-designate is widely experienced in life in the tropics, having been Colonial Secretary of Bermuda from 1935 to 1938. and Colonial Secretary of Jamaica from 1938 to the present year. He formerly served in Hongkong, lie was educated at Wellington' School. Cambridge University, and Sandhurst Military College, and entered the colonial service in 1922. T 1 is wife was formerly Miss Maurine Samson, of San Francisco. They have no children.
