SIX SHIPS SUNK
RAIDS OFF NORWAY BRITISH CARRIER PLANES 19 VESSELS DAMAGED RUGBY, Oct. SO. Carrier-borne aircraft of the Royal Navy, operating with ships of the Home Fleet, carried out further successful attacks on enemy shipping oil' the Norwegian coast and on shore installations on the mainland, states an Admiralty communique. During these operations, which took piacc near Bodo, a total of six enemy ships were sunk, comprising two supply ships, one medium-sized tanker, one aircraft tender, and two naval auxiliaries. in addition, a large U-boat was attacked and driven ashore in a damaged condition. A further 19 enemy vessels, including seven large supply ships and one of medium size, were damaged by cannon iire or bombs. An armed coaster and armed trawler were also driven ashore. Land targets which were successfully attacked by naval aircraft included a U-boat depot, wireless stations, oil tanks and shore batteries. mints were laid in enemy waters. Five aircraft are missing, but one pilot is safe.
