Bartholo- , mew John Ivelleher nnd James Joseph (Napier, both of Palmerston North, for havI ing committed a breach of the recent regulations through having transported raceihorses by motor over the prescribed distance(of 3(1 miles. These were the first prosecutions of the kind under the regulations. (Both defendants pleaded guilty and each was ifined £5 and costs £2 12s, the magistrate (Stating that he inflicted only a nominal (penalty because they were the first cases ;of their kind. In future similar proseeu- . 'tions the fines would .not be so light.
