FORBES ON TRIAL

SHARE FRAUD CHARGES INNOCENCE PROTESTED (10.30 a.m.) SYDNEY, March 15. Sobbing as he spoke, John Woplcott Forbes declared in the Sydney Criminal Court yesterday: “I am innocent of* these charges. I did not forge or falsify these certificates.” ‘Fpr,bes is’on trial 'on charges offorging,' uttering and falsifying Share certificates of the producers and General Finance Corporation, of which he is a director. Addressing the jury at the conclusion of the Crown evidence, Mr. Shand. K.C.. declared he would show that Forbes was wholly innocent. He cilaimed that Forbes had put his capital of £IOO,OOO into the company in an effort tp protect the shareholders.
