NEW HEAD APPOINTED (P.A.) WELLINGTON, July 16. The appointment is announced of Mr. Leonard Irwin as chief electoral officer for the Dominion. He has been acting in that capacity since the death in April last of Mr. G. G. Hodgkins. Mr. Irwin was born in Oamaru in 1908 and educated at Waitaki Boys’ High School. He joined the Public Service in 1925, entering the Department of Internal Affairs, from which he transferred in 1923 to the chief electoral office.
